The World Cup has seen its fair share of celebrity guests, but Ed Norton‘s presence during Thursday’s USA vs. Turkey game really got the internet talking.

The actor attended the game alongside some other big names, including Colin Farrell and — crucially — his former Fight Club co-star Brad Pitt.

You can probably already guess what joke people were making.

Admittedly that won’t make much sense unless you’ve seen Fight Club, David Fincher’s 1999 psychological thriller about two men starting an underground bareknuckle fight club together.

The twist (and a 27-year-old spoiler warning)? Pitt’s character is never really there — he’s just a figment of Norton’s character’s damaged psyche.
